Welcome to Style Souk!

Souki Souki Now!

A souk is market place, a meeting place, where people gather to shop and exchange ideas and goods. Almost every country has a souk, and in my opinion, it is the best locale to experience the soul of the place. In the souk you will find spices, jewelry, foods, leather, herbs, medicines, carpets, oils, clothing and just about anything you can imagine.

This blog is a style souk, or a meeting place, where I will share my favorite fashion finds with you. I love fashion and I am always inspired by designs from runway shows and trends from glossy magazines, but, how do you translate these high end looks into wearable staples for real-life divas? I will show you how to incorporate both hot trends and timeless looks into your wardrobe with ease!

Trail Blazer!

The blazer should be a staple in every woman's wardrobe.

Why you ask?

- Adding a blazer to any look instantly creates a classic, timeless, polished and sophisticated look.

- Blazers are flattering on all figures because their structure creates an hour glass silhouette. The strong square shoulders, nipped in waist and forgiving shape that glides over the hips will carve out the hourglass shape in any today type.

- You can wear blazers with anything from a t-shirt and skinny jeans, a mini skirt or leather pants to a girly dress, long maxi dress, shorts or slacks.

Of course the basic black blazer is the most classic look. To avoid looking like you just stepped out of the board room, step up the cool factor by rolling or pushing up the sleeves and popping up the collar.

Here are some cool looks to update your blazer.

This look is fun as it is fresh. The blazer gets an updated with polka dot tights, suede boots and a bright blouse with multi colored stacked bangles.

Bring out your inner rock star, pair your slashed black skinnies with your blazer and don't forget to push up those sleeves, pop that collar and work it!

If you want to dress up your blazer, try one of these looks! Pair your blazer with a sparkly mini skirt for a night out on the town!

If you want a little more variation with your blazer other than classic black, her are some looks to try!

- Pick a fresh bold color for your blazer
- Try a unique texture such as leather, suede or velvet
- Look for a studded or embellished blazer

Here are some examples of how to step out of the box!

Now that we have some bright ideas, let's take a look at some blazers with texture and shine!

Here's a great leather look!

And here is a sumptuous coffee colored suite blazer layered over a creme dress, just classic and fresh for fall/winter!

What is that? Velvet? Why yes it is! And it looks feels rich and luxurious.

Here is my take on the velvet blazer!

In Living Color! Brightly Colored Denim is HOT

Try a brightly colored pair of jeans or slacks for a quick and easy wardrobe upgrade!

These hot pants will not only take you through fall and winter but straight into spring and summer. Designers are making these jeans in every possible hue from brights to pastels. You can cop a pair of these jeans anywhere from high end department stores and boutiques to discount chain stores and little "cheap" stores in almost any mall.

There are two keys to pulling off this bold look:

1. Pair your bright pant with neutral tops and accessories (bags, shoes, belts)

2. KISS: Keep it Simple Sister!

Wear your bright jean with a clean white oversized blouse, a black leather belt and black ankle boots or gladiator heels for a bold but minimalist look. Or, pair your bright pant with any neutral color top or shoes such as grey, chocolate, tan or nude.

If red or electric blue is too loud for you, try a soft turquoise, sea foam green, plum, indigo or forest green to ease into the look. Keep the accessories simple so that the color will be the focus. Add a structured blazer or a leather jacket to finish off the look.

For a bold look, choose a bright color like electric blue, bold gold, or lipstick red!

For a softer look, choose a color inspired by nature, like the burnt orange of autumn leaves, the teal pools of an island lagoon or the rich purple-blue of the indigo flower.

This bright trend is not limited to denim, beautiful slacks are also getting the bold treatment. Here are some looks to consider for inspiration!
